Module 16

Phone and Tablet App

Most counter staff work standing up, with a phone in one hand. Entyti Medical is built for that. You can keep using it in the browser, or you can put it on the home screen of your phone or tablet so it opens with one tap, like WhatsApp or PhonePe, with no address bar in the way. On Android we are also testing a proper installed app file. This page explains all three ways, what changes once the app is on your home screen, and how the app updates itself.

What you can do here

  • Add Entyti Medical to your Android phone or tablet home screen from Chrome.
  • Add it to your iPhone or iPad home screen from Safari.
  • Ask us about the Android app file (APK), which is still in testing with pilot shops.
  • Keep the app opening on a weak connection, and see clearly when you are offline.
  • See the local copy of your data on the Offline sync page, force a sync, or clear the local copy.
  • Get updates automatically on the home screen version, and by installing a new file on the Android app version.

Which version should I use?

Way of using the app Who it suits Opens without internet? How it updates
Browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge) Shop computer at the counter The main screens open, but your live numbers still need a connection By itself, every time you open it
Home screen icon (Android or iPhone) Owner or staff on their own phone The main screens open, but your live numbers still need a connection By itself, every time you open it
Android app file (APK), in testing Pilot shops with bad signal The app itself opens with no signal, because it sits inside the phone You install the new file we send

Good to know

  • All three show the same shop, the same stock and the same bills. You sign in with the same email and password everywhere. Signing in itself needs internet, so sign in once before you rely on the app in a weak-signal shop.
  • There is no app to search for in the Play Store or the App Store yet. If someone shows you an "Entyti Medical" app in a store, do not install it. Write to info@entyti.com and we will send you the correct file.
  • The app is set to open upright (portrait). Turning your phone sideways will not change the layout.
  • The app always opens on the Dashboard screen.

Add the app to your Android home screen

This is the easiest way and it needs nothing from us. It works on any Android phone or tablet with Chrome.

Steps

  1. Open Chrome on your Android phone.
  2. Go to your shop's Entyti Medical web address, medical.entyti.in.
  3. Sign in once with your email and password, so the app remembers you.
  4. Tap the three dots at the top right of Chrome.
  5. Tap Add to Home screen (on some phones it says Install app).
  6. The name Entyti Medical appears in a small box. Leave it as it is, or type a shorter name.
  7. Tap Add, then tap Add again if the phone asks a second time.
  8. Close Chrome. You will now see a round Entyti Medical icon on your home screen. Tap it to open the app.

Good to know

  • If Add to Home screen does not appear in the menu, open the app once with internet on and wait a few seconds, then try again. The phone needs to load the app fully before it offers to install it.
  • The icon uses our own app picture, not a photo of the website.
  • After the first time, you do not have to sign in again on that phone unless you sign out.
  • You can add the app on more than one phone. Each staff member should use their own login, not share one.
  • To remove it, press and hold the icon and drag it to Remove or Uninstall, the same as any other app. Your shop data is safe on our servers, nothing is lost.

Add the app to your iPhone or iPad home screen

On iPhone this must be done in Safari. Chrome on iPhone does not offer it.

Steps

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to medical.entyti.in.
  3. Sign in with your email and password.
  4. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen. It is the square with an arrow pointing up.
  5. Slide the list of options up until you see Add to Home Screen. Tap it.
  6. The name Entyti Medical appears at the top. Leave it as it is.
  7. Tap Add at the top right.
  8. Go to your home screen and tap the new Entyti Medical icon.

Good to know

  • Opened this way, the app fills the whole screen. There is no Safari address bar and no tabs.
  • The status bar at the top of the phone stays in its normal colours, so you can still see the time and battery.
  • There is no Android-style app file for iPhone. The home screen icon is the way iPhone users install Entyti Medical.
  • Voice buttons work on iPhone as well as Android, because the recording is understood on our servers, not by the phone.

Install the Android app file (APK)

For shops where the internet drops often, we are testing an Android app file with pilot shops. This version carries the whole app inside the phone, so the app itself opens even in airplane mode. Ask us first, because it is not released to everyone yet.

Steps

  1. Write to info@entyti.com and ask whether the Android app file is ready for your shop.
  2. On your Android phone, open the download link we send and tap Download.
  3. When the download finishes, tap the file. It is called something like app-debug.apk.
  4. Android will warn you that this file did not come from the Play Store. Tap Settings in that warning.
  5. Turn on Allow from this source, then tap the back arrow.
  6. Tap Install, and wait for the phone to say App installed.
  7. Tap Open. Sign in with your email and password the first time.
  8. Turn Allow from this source back off afterwards if you want, the app stays installed.

Good to know

  • The app name on the phone is Entyti Medical.
  • The whole app sits inside the phone, so it opens with no signal at all. Your stock, customers and bills still come from our servers, so you need a connection to load them and to save a bill.
  • Please install only the file we send you directly. Do not accept an app file forwarded on WhatsApp by anyone else.
  • This version does not update itself. When we send a new file, install it over the old one. See Updating the app below.
  • On older Android phones the switch in step 5 may be under Settings, then Install unknown apps, then Chrome.

Working with weak or no internet

The app is built for shops where the Wi-Fi comes and goes. A short drop does not throw you out of the app, and the app tells you plainly when it is offline.

What keeps working offline

  • The main screens open: Dashboard, Assistant, Quick Sale, Inventory, POS Billing, Purchases, Outstanding, Reports, Settings, Invoice and the sign in screen. These are saved on the device the first time you open them.
  • Whatever is already on the screen stays on the screen. Nothing is thrown away when the signal drops.

What stops working offline

Your stock, customers and bills live on our servers, so anything that reads or writes them waits for the signal to come back. Selling offline is being built and is not ready yet, so finish the bill while you still have a connection.

  • The Scan button on Inventory changes to Scan (online) and cannot be tapped. Its message says "Scan needs internet".
  • Scan Invoice on Purchases changes to Scan (online). Its message says "Scan needs internet, enter the bill manually offline".
  • Scan list on Quick Sale needs internet.
  • Voice buttons turn grey with a crossed-out microphone and the message "Voice needs internet".
  • The Assistant screen and the floating assistant button need internet. The Assistant shows a grey note saying it pauses and resumes automatically when you reconnect.
  • Saving a bill, loading medicine search results and opening a fresh report all need internet.

How you know you are offline

  1. On a phone, a small orange Offline tag appears at the top of the screen, next to your shop name.
  2. Open the menu and you will see an orange tag at the bottom that says Offline, AI paused.
  3. The tags disappear on their own the moment the connection returns. You do not have to reload anything.

Check the local copy on your device: Offline sync

There is a screen that shows exactly what the app has stored on this phone or tablet. You will rarely need it, but it is useful when you think a device is showing old numbers.

Steps

  1. Open the menu and tap Offline sync.
  2. At the top right you will see a green Online tag or an orange Offline tag.
  3. In the Local database box, read the list. Each row is a type of record and the number next to it is how many copies this device is holding.
  4. The small grey word next to status tells you what the app is doing, for example syncing.
  5. Tap Force sync if you want the device to fetch everything again straight away.
  6. Tap Wipe local only if we ask you to. It deletes the copy on this device and reloads the app.

Good to know

  • The numbers refresh by themselves every couple of seconds while the page is open.
  • Wipe local does not delete anything from your shop. It only clears this device's copy, which is then downloaded again the next time you are online. The app reloads itself straight after.
  • If something goes wrong, a red message appears under the list. Send us that message at info@entyti.com.
  • Offline sync does not appear in the menu for the read-only Accountant login, because that login never creates bills.

What changes once the app is on your home screen

Steps

  1. Tap the Entyti Medical icon on your home screen.
  2. Notice the app opens straight on the Dashboard, not on a website home page.
  3. Notice there is no address bar, no tabs and no browser buttons. The whole screen is the app.
  4. Use the menu button at the top left to move between Quick Sale, Inventory, POS Billing and the rest.
  5. To leave, use the phone's own home button or gesture, the same as any other app.

Good to know

  • Because the address bar is gone, there is no browser Back button. Use the menu inside the app to move around.
  • The app is locked upright and does not rotate.
  • The screen will not zoom in and out with two fingers. Text is already sized for a phone.
  • Everything you can do in the browser you can also do here. The home screen icon is the same app, just without the browser around it.
  • Printing a bill still uses your phone's normal print or share options, exactly as it does in the browser.

Updating the app

Home screen and browser versions

Steps

  1. Make sure the phone has internet.
  2. Close the app fully (swipe it away from your recent apps).
  3. Open it again from the home screen icon.
  4. You are now on the newest version. There is nothing to download and nothing to approve.

Good to know

  • Every time you open a screen with internet on, the app fetches the newest copy and saves it for the next time you are offline.
  • When we release a new version, the app quietly throws away the old saved copy. You do not need to clear anything.
  • If a screen looks wrong or stuck, close the app fully and open it again. That is almost always enough. If it is not, tell us at info@entyti.com.

Android app file version

Steps

  1. Wait for us to send you the new app file link.
  2. Open the link on the phone and tap Download.
  3. Tap the downloaded file.
  4. Tap Update, then Open.
  5. Your login and your shop stay exactly as they were.

Good to know

  • Installing over the old app does not delete your data or sign you out.
  • Install the new file on top of the old one rather than uninstalling first, so your sign in is kept.
  • Before updating, finish and save any bill you have open, with internet on.

Pro features on the phone

The phone app shows the same menu as the computer, so you will see these entries. They are on the Full plan.

Menu item What it is Plan
Distributor Orders Send purchase orders to your distributor Pro
Shop switcher at the top Move between more than one shop or branch Pro
Staff and roles in Settings Invite counter staff and your accountant Pro
WhatsApp auto-send in Settings Bills sent to the customer automatically Pro
GST returns, credit notes, balance sheet and stock value in Reports Accounting exports Pro

Tapping one of these on the Lite plan shows an upgrade message instead of the screen. To move to the Full plan, write to info@entyti.com.

Common questions

Do I need to install anything to use Entyti Medical on my phone? No. It works in Chrome or Safari as it is. Adding it to the home screen just makes it faster to open and gives you the full screen.

Is the home screen app a different app from the website? No. It is the same app and the same shop data. Only the browser frame around it is gone.

Can I bill a customer when the internet is down? Not yet. The billing screens open, but the medicine list and the bill itself come from our servers, so you need a connection to search stock and save the bill. Offline selling is being built. Scan, voice and the Assistant also pause until the signal is back.

What happens to a bill I was in the middle of when the signal dropped? What is on the screen stays there. Wait for the orange Offline tag to disappear, then save the bill again.

My phone says "this file may be harmful" when I install the Android app file. Is that normal? Yes. Android says that about every app that does not come from the Play Store. It is safe if the link came from us. If you are not sure, do not install it, and write to info@entyti.com first.

Can I install the Android app file on an iPhone? No. iPhone does not accept that kind of file. On iPhone, use Safari and Add to Home Screen.

Two staff are using the app on two phones. Do they see the same stock? Yes, as long as both phones have internet. Both phones read the same shop from our servers.

How do I know which version I am on? The home screen and browser versions are always the newest one, as soon as you open them with internet. For the Android app file, tell us when you installed it and we will confirm.

The app opened but the numbers look old. What do I do? Check the top of the screen for the orange Offline tag. If it is there, the phone has no internet. If it is not there, close the app fully and open it again so the screen loads fresh numbers.

Can I use it on a tablet? Yes. The same steps work on an Android tablet through Chrome and on an iPad through Safari.
